Morocco exported more than 34,000 tonnes of mandarins to Russia during the first ten months of the year, marking a 1.8-fold increase compared with the same period last year, according to data compiled by Russia’s RIA Novosti news agency.

The rise places Morocco fourth among the largest suppliers of mandarins to the Russian market, a product that remains highly popular with Russian consumers.

Turkey retained its position as Russia’s top supplier, exporting over 209,000 tonnes between January and October, despite a 5 percent year-on-year decline.

China ranked second with more than 60,000 tonnes, followed by South Africa with 58,600 tonnes, while Egypt completed the top five with 21,000 tonnes, despite a sharp annual drop.

Russian customs data show that Moroccan mandarins were among the cheapest on the market, supporting their competitiveness at a time of peak seasonal demand between November and January.
