Achraf Hakimi’s standout season with Paris Saint Germain was capped Tuesday night when the Morocco international was named to FIFA’s men’s World XI at the The Best awards ceremony in Doha.
PSG, fresh from lifting the Champions League trophy, dominated the lineup with five players included. Alongside Hakimi, the team features defenders William Pacho and Nuno Mendes, midfielder Vitinha and forward Ousmane Dembélé, who was named FIFA men’s player of the year.
The World XI also includes goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, defender Virgil van Dijk, and midfielders Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham, Pedri and teenage sensation Lamine Yamal.
PSG coach Luis Enrique was named men’s coach of the year, while Donnarumma collected the award for best goalkeeper.
Elsewhere, Argentina’s Santiago Montiel won the Puskás Award for best goal, Mexico’s Lizbeth Ovalle claimed the Marta Award, and Spain’s Aitana Bonmatí was named women’s player of the year. England coach Sarina Wiegman and goalkeeper Hannah Hampton also took top honors.
