Morocco’s temporary National Committee for the Management of Press and Publishing Affairs said it will take legal action against YouTuber Hamid Mahdaoui after he published edited footage from an internal meeting of the Committee on Professional Ethics and Disciplinary Issues.

In a statement, the committee said the video posted on Mahdaoui’s YouTube channel used “selected excerpts of statements and images” from a confidential meeting with the aim of misleading viewers and defaming members of the ethics committee and the temporary body. It stressed that internal deliberations are legally protected by confidentiality under Article 18 of the bylaws of the National Press Council, and that publishing such material constitutes a criminal offense.

The committee added that remarks attributed to the head of the ethics committee were “false, distorted and fabricated,” noting his long record of impartiality since the council’s creation. It accused Mahdaoui of a sustained campaign of daily attacks, including insults, allegations of financial misconduct and claims of political conspiracies.

It said the disciplinary meeting he leaked followed proper procedure and that decisions taken against him were grounded in Law 90.13. It rejected his portrayal of the proceedings as a conspiracy, calling it an attempt to evade ethical accountability.

Mahdaoui, in a one-hour broadcast, argued that the leaked clip exposed “serious abuses” in the handling of his case and appealed to judicial and rights institutions to intervene.
