Morocco’s banking sector saw its average liquidity deficit reach MAD 137.7 billion during the week of November 13–19, 2025, marking a 6.15% increase compared with the previous week, according to BMC Capital Global Research.
The weekly “Fixed Income Weekly” report noted that the rise in the deficit coincided with Bank Al-Maghrib increasing its seven-day advances by MAD 7.6 billion, bringing the total to MAD 68.7 billion.
Meanwhile, treasury placements declined, with the daily maximum recorded at MAD 10.3 billion, down from MAD 15 billion the prior week.
The weighted average interest rate remained at 2.25%, while the Moroccan Money Market Index, calculated daily based on repurchase agreements backed by treasury bonds, fell to 2.239%.
Looking ahead, BMC Capital Global Research anticipates that Bank Al-Maghrib may slightly increase its interventions in the money market, potentially raising seven-day advances to around MAD 69.5 billion.
