With the recent renovation of the Grand Stade de Tanger, the city now boasts one of the best sports infrastructures in the world, according to the Spanish sports newspaper AS on Friday.
The Tangier stadium, one of the finest in Africa and the world, has undergone significant transformations, including the removal of the athletics track and an increase in seating capacity to 75,000 spectators, the newspaper states.
Completely renovated, the complex blends modernity and comfort, providing a welcoming atmosphere and an exceptional setting for football enthusiasts, writes the Spanish outlet.
Equipped with cutting-edge technology, this ultramodern facility features lighting and sound systems that meet the strictest FIFA standards, as well as giant screens installed both inside and outside the venue, the publication highlights.
The media outlet also emphasizes the feat accomplished by Moroccan engineers, who managed to complete the installation of the new roof in just 69 days. This achievement, designed to adapt to local climatic conditions, also ensures optimal natural lighting, showcasing the skill and efficiency of the technical teams.
Recalling that the stadium hosted the 2018 Spanish Super Cup final between FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC, AS notes that it will also be the venue for a semi-final at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (from December 21 to January 18) and will be one of the main venues for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
