Fresh from signing Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech, Wydad Casablanca is reportedly targeting Sofiane Boufal in a bold bid to reunite the attacking pair that dazzled at the 2022 World Cup, according to France Football and other sources.
Club president Hicham Aït Menna confirmed Thursday that Ziyech had chosen Wydad “from the heart” despite more lucrative European offers. The former Chelsea winger, joining as a free agent, is expected to boost ticket sales, shirt revenue and TV audiences as the club competes in both the Botola Pro and the CAF Confederation Cup.
Attention now turns to Boufal, currently under contract with Belgium’s Union Saint-Gilloise until June 2026. Valued at around €3 million, the Atlas Lions winger has long been on Wydad’s radar, with previous approaches dating back to 2024. Talks for a potential winter move are described as “active but not concluded.”
