Cooperation between Morocco and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), as well as prospects for financing infrastructure projects in the transport and logistics sector, were the focus of a meeting on Wednesday in Rabat between the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mr. Abdessamad Kayouh, and the Chairman of the AIIB Board of Directors, Jin Liqun.

The meeting provided an opportunity to present the ministry’s main infrastructure projects, particularly those relating to high-speed rail lines, Mr. Kayouh said in a statement to MAP, citing projects currently underway as well as those requiring financing.

He also highlighted the growing interest of international financial institutions in projects carried out in Morocco, seeing this as a sign of confidence in the stability, economic growth, and long-term development of the Kingdom under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

For his part, Liqun praised the quality of the cooperative relationship between Morocco and the AIIB, expressing the financial institution’s willingness to support the Moroccan government’s efforts to strengthen connectivity, transport networks, and basic infrastructure, which are essential for sustainable economic growth.

The President of the AIIB also praised Morocco’s vision and development, reaffirming the Bank’s pride in counting the Kingdom among its members and its willingness to consolidate cooperation with Moroccan institutions.
