Morocco’s 2026 draft Finance Bill sets defense expenditures at 157.17 billion dirhams, authorizing the minister delegate in charge of national defense to commit this amount in advance from the 2027 budget.
The funds will cover procurement and maintenance of Royal Armed Forces equipment and support for the country’s growing defense industry.
The figure marks a continued rise in military spending after allocations reached 133 billion dirhams in 2025 and 124 billion in 2024.
The draft, to be presented Monday by Finance Minister Nadia Fettah, also provides for the creation of 36,895 new public-sector positions, including around 5,500 for the Ministry of National Defense.
In other budgetary commitments, 453 million dirhams are earmarked for the Interior Ministry under the Natural Disaster Response Fund, while the Digital Transition and Administrative Reform Ministry will be authorized to spend 1.5 billion dirhams for public administration modernization and digitalization, including promotion of the Amazigh language.
