On the sidelines of the 151st Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly in Geneva, the president of Morocco’s House of Councillors, Mohamed Ould Errachid, held bilateral meetings Sunday with his counterparts from Australia, Ghana, and Jordan to enhance parliamentary cooperation and align positions in international forums.
During talks with Australian Speaker Milton Dick, Ould Errachid highlighted the solid relations between Rabat and Canberra and discussed expanding collaboration in green hydrogen, renewable energy, water management, and innovation.
He praised the establishment of the Australia-Morocco Business Network in 2024 and invited Dick to visit Morocco to deepen institutional dialogue. Both parties agreed to revive the parliamentary friendship group.
In his meeting with Ghanaian Parliament Speaker Alban Bagbin, Ould Errachid emphasized the strategic nature of Morocco-Ghana ties, strengthened since King Mohammed VI’s 2017 visit to Accra.
He called for active parliamentary diplomacy to accompany growing Moroccan investments in fertilizers, energy, and infrastructure. Bagbin reaffirmed Ghana’s steadfast support for Morocco and shared commitment to African priorities such as regional integration and sustainable development.
Ould Errachid also met with Jordanian Senate President Faisal Al-Fayez to explore ways to deepen cooperation between the two countries’ legislative bodies, reinforcing fraternal ties within Arab parliamentary diplomacy.
