Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Ahmed Bouari, announced the launch of a national program to create jobs in rural areas as part of the government’s employment roadmap, which has a total budget of 14 billion dirhams, including 1 billion dedicated to boosting rural employment.
In a written parliamentary response, Bouari said the program adopts a comprehensive approach aimed at improving rural youth employability and promoting entrepreneurship through hands-on training, technical support, and financing. It is structured around two main pillars: the first focuses on training 90,000 young people through agricultural advisory centers, while the second targets the creation of permanent jobs by supporting 3,400 solidarity-based farming projects, particularly in livestock production.
The minister said the initiative responds to major challenges linked to drought and difficult climatic conditions that have affected both agricultural productivity and rural employment. He noted that since its launch, the “Green Generation” strategy has supported more than 13,500 young people through 4,900 projects, and established 12 regional centers and 67 local branches to promote agricultural entrepreneurship nationwide.
