Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi has broken his silence regarding the rape allegation he has faced since March 2023, calling the ordeal one of the hardest experiences of his personal and professional life.

In an interview with the French channel Canal+, Hakimi stated that what he endured was “great injustice,” adding, “No one has ever caused me such damage.

It was difficult and remains so, especially since the lies that were published hurt my family and my children who may one day read these slanderous accusations about their father.”

The Moroccan right-back reaffirmed his innocence, noting that he provided French authorities with everything requested, including DNA samples, while claiming the complainant “did not show the necessary cooperation.”

He added that he feels more relieved now and hopes the truth will emerge soon.

Hakimi revealed the case has fundamentally changed his private life, leading him to significantly reduce his inner circle.

“After what happened, I do not allow anyone new into my life, as the world around us is full of those who try to exploit us, and if you are not surrounded by people you trust, you may find yourself in difficult situations,” he said.

The player concluded by asserting he is preparing to overcome this ordeal and focus on his football career, which recently saw him finish 6th in the Ballon d’Or ranking.
