Morocco has emerged as an increasingly popular destination for golf enthusiasts, securing a third-place ranking in a new interactive test conducted by Glencor Golf Holidays.
The test, which was launched last June, recommended Morocco as a destination in 10 percent of cases, placing it behind Spain (38.3 percent) and Portugal (12.2 percent).
The company’s director, Kori Renton, said she was not surprised by Morocco’s growing popularity, especially among British golfers. She explained that the country offers a unique combination of high-quality golf courses, sunny weather, diverse accommodation options, and competitive prices compared to more traditional golf destinations like Turkey and the Portuguese Algarve region.
Marrakech led the country’s rankings, praised for its Golf Samanah and Royal Golf Marrakech Old Course, while Agadir came in second for its world-class resorts.
The interactive test also provided insight into what golfers look for in their trips. 44 percent of participants said they prefer to explore local culture, and a majority (53 percent) favor short flights of two to four hours. The results also showed that 57 percent of golfers prefer short holidays lasting between three and six days.
