Under the effective presidency of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation (FRMG) congratulated Adam Bresnu on reaching the 126th U.S. Amateur Championship quarterfinals held at Merion Golf Club in Pennsylvania.
This historic performance came in Adam Bresnu’s first appearance at the landmark tournament, where he became the first Moroccan to represent the Kingdom, the Federation said in a statement.
After carding 72 and 68 in the qualifying rounds, he successively defeated Ward Harris, 4&3, Finn Koelle, 3&2, and Max Herendeen, 5&4, to advance to the last eight, according to the source.
This major achievement confirms his place among the world’s elite and highlights the progress of the high-performance development program established by the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation.
“I dedicate this qualification to Moroccan golf. My main goal is to show young people in Morocco that if I can do it, anyone can do it,” said the 22-year-old golfer. His rise provides young Moroccan players with a tangible role model and a pathway they can aspire to follow.
The U.S. Amateur Championship is organized by the United States Golf Association (USGA), as it brings together the world’s top amateur players each year and serves as a major stepping stone toward a professional golf career.
Held on iconic courses and featuring a demanding format, the tournament has seen numerous legends of world golf compete before embarking on their professional careers, including Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus.
This achievement places Morocco at the heart of one of the most prestigious events in world amateur golf and provides further evidence of the vision championed by HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, President of the FRMG, to build a genuine high-performance pathway in Morocco and provide young Moroccan talents with the means to reach the international elite.
A member of the FRMG’s Road to The Tour program, Adam Bresnu was supported by the federation’s ecosystem and the national team before continuing his development in the United States. His journey reflects the structured approach established by the Federation, combining talent identification, training, sporting and academic support, integration into the U.S. university system, and exposure to international competitions.
Now ranked in the Top 30 of the World Amateur Golf Ranking, Adam Bresnu is one of the most successful products of the federation’s high-performance pathway. The program continues to develop with the creation of the High-Performance Training and Development Center at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, which is intended to support the next generation of Moroccan talents and become an international benchmark.
