Morocco’s meteorological authority announced plans to strengthen its early warning system for extreme weather by installing new automated monitoring stations across several provinces.
The Directorate of National Meteorology, part of the Ministry of Equipment and Water, has launched an international tender for the supply, installation and operation of the stations. The project, listed under tender No. 42/2025/M.A.D.M., is valued at nearly 4.99 million dirhams ($500,000), according to documents reviewed by Hespress.
The stations will be equipped with data loggers, transmitters, temperature and humidity sensors, rain gauges and snow depth detectors, in addition to protective shelters for equipment. The contract also requires the provision of spare parts for calibration and maintenance.
The directorate said the upgrades are part of efforts to enhance Morocco’s capacity to monitor extreme weather events and provide timely warnings.
Bidding documents stipulate that submissions must comply with articles 30 to 34 of Morocco’s public procurement decree.
