Nearly two years after a series of patients lost their eyesight following injections administered at Casablanca’s “20 Août” hospital, known as the “victims of the 20 Août injection,” families continue to press for justice as investigations drag on.
Relatives told Hespress that the judicial inquiry, launched by the judicial police under the supervision of the public prosecutor at the Casablanca Court of Appeal, has been ongoing without resolution, fueling frustration and prolonging suffering.
Families who repeatedly visited the court said they were reassured that the case remained under investigation, yet expressed fears that delays may erode hope for accountability.
According to testimonies, patients who had purchased Avastin solution from a nearby pharmacy before receiving intra-vitreal injections at the hospital were left blind or visually impaired once the anesthetic effect wore off, leading to severe psychological, social, and financial hardship for many households.
