Road crashes in Morocco’s urban areas killed 42 people and injured 2,990 others between June 22 and 28, the General Directorate of National Security said.
The injuries included 131 serious cases across 2,184 recorded accidents.
Police identified driver inattention as the leading cause, followed by failure to yield, speeding, pedestrian inattention, unsafe following distances and loss of vehicle control.
Other causes included changing direction without signalling, illegal turns, failure to stop, driving against traffic, keeping to the left, running red lights, drunk driving and unsafe overtaking.
The national police said enforcement campaigns would continue, with increased monitoring and penalties targeting violations that place road users at risk.
