Developing cooperation in agriculture between Morocco and Poland was the focus of a meeting on Tuesday in Warsaw between Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests Ahmed El Bouari and Polish counterpart Stefan Krajewski.

This meeting took place within the framework of a working visit by El Bouari to Poland, leading a delegation. It focused on examining strategic issues related to the development of trade exchanges, the sanitary safety of agricultural products, scientific training, and research and development.

In a statement to MAP at the end of the meeting, El Bouari said that his visit to Poland was part of a shared desire to strengthen relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, noting that he observed with his counterpart the complementarity of the two countries’ economies, particularly in the fields of agriculture and agri-food, as well as the convergence of views on building win-win strategic cooperation.

“The discussions confirmed our determination to elevate this bilateral cooperation to the level of a structuring and sustainable partnership, serving food security and shared socio-economic development,” the minister said. Bilateral agricultural trade reached a total of 1.7 billion dirhams between 2022 and 2024, he added.

During the meeting, Krajewski noted that the encounter provided an opportunity to identify concrete areas of cooperation, which could serve as a platform to boost bilateral trade, encourage the exchange of experiences, and strengthen academic cooperation in agriculture.

“This meeting is a strong signal of the closer ties between the two countries, based on dialogue and cooperation. Poland regards Morocco as a stable partner and valued friend in the North African region, and we are convinced that together we can build bridges between Europe and Africa, based on mutual dialogue and concrete projects,” stressed the Polish official.

During this visit, El Bouari met with several major actors in the Polish agricultural sector to explore cooperation and partnership opportunities. He also visited the Bronisze wholesale agri-food market, the largest distribution center for fresh produce and flowers in Poland since 1995.

The program also included a visit to Poland’s largest poultry production unit, enabling the examination of modern production processes and the exploration of cooperation opportunities in the poultry sector.

El Bouari also visited the Warsaw University of Life Sciences and the Horticulture Institute, where talks focused on training, applied research, and technological innovation in the fruit and vegetable sectors.

The Moroccan delegation includes the president of the Moroccan Confederation of Agriculture and Rural Development, Rachid Benali, as well as representatives of professional organizations in agriculture and senior ministry officials.
