Operation Marhaba 2025 has marked record inflows of Moroccans residing abroad, with more than 3.7 million people entering the kingdom up to August 31, representing an 11 percent rise compared with the same period last year, according to figures released by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity.
Data obtained by Hespress show that 3,719,963 individuals crossed into Morocco between the launch of the operation and the end of August, highlighting a surge in mobility across ports and airports. Maritime crossings remained dominant, accounting for 54 percent of total arrivals, with 2,010,638 passengers. Tangier Med port alone represented 34 percent of entries.
Airports recorded 1,709,325 arrivals, or 46 percent of the overall total, with Casablanca’s Mohammed V airport leading with 27 percent of incoming travelers.
Beyond transport logistics, the Mohammed V Foundation emphasized its expanded social and humanitarian support, which reached 77,201 beneficiaries across different entry points. Medical assistance was provided to 6,694 individuals, administrative and customs support to 18,074, and transportation aid to 1,384 people. Another 51,049 benefited from other forms of logistical or social support.
The Foundation also highlighted specific humanitarian interventions. In one instance, over 50 families who risked missing their ferry departure were assisted directly through mediation with a shipping company, enabling them to adjust their tickets without extra cost. In another case, urgent coordination with medical services ensured immediate care for a nine-year-old boy who suffered a broken arm just before his family’s departure for Italy. The child underwent surgery at Tangier University Hospital, while his mother received comprehensive assistance until both resumed their journey two days later, with tickets reissued at no charge.
These examples, the Foundation stressed, illustrate its commitment not only to logistical assistance but also to ensuring dignified and humane treatment for travelers.
With the official conclusion of Operation Marhaba set for September 15, authorities are preparing for the return phase. This year’s campaign, marked by record arrivals and reinforced humanitarian engagement, underscores the Foundation’s central role in strengthening the human and national bonds linking Morocco with its diaspora.
