Classified tourist accommodation establishments in Essaouira recorded a 14 percent increase in overnight stays by the end of June 2025, reaching 357,114 compared with 313,573 a year earlier, according to monthly data from the Tourism Observatory.
The occupancy rate in the coastal city, known as the “City of Winds,” rose to 45 percent from 42 percent in the same period of 2024.
In June alone, overnight stays increased by 4 percent to 55,700 compared with 53,313 a year earlier, while occupancy improved to 44 percent against 40 percent in June 2024.
At the national level, Morocco’s classified establishments posted a 13 percent rise in overnight stays during the first half of 2025 compared with the same period last year.
The Observatory noted that this growth was driven by both domestic tourism, which increased by 5 percent, and international tourism, which registered a stronger 16 percent gain.
