Morocco’s General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration clarified on Monday that reports circulating in some media outlets contained misunderstandings and inaccurate information regarding the implementation of Law 43.22 on alternative sentences.

In a statement, the delegation said it has taken the necessary measures, both centrally and locally, to ensure the enforcement of the new law, as it is legally mandated to oversee its application.

It reported that equipment has been provided, staff have been assigned to dedicated units, and employees have undergone training to monitor the execution of court rulings involving alternative penalties.

Concerning electronic monitoring, the delegation confirmed that a national platform has been launched within the set deadlines and that electronic bracelets are available for use.

On other types of alternative sentences, the delegation noted delays caused by the overlap with the summer holiday season but pledged to accelerate coordination with relevant sectors in the coming days.
