Morocco’s Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, has called for the suspension of a controversial motorcycle inspection campaign. The order came this morning, Thursday, during a conversation with Abdelsamad Kayouh, the Minister of Transport and Logistics.
The campaign, which had been launched by the Ministry of Transport, was facing widespread discontent and had recently gained rapid momentum on social media. The inspections used a speed-monitoring device to check for maximum speed, sparking a major controversy among drivers.
According to exclusive information from Hespress, the Head of Government’s call asks for a 12-month grace period for motorcycle drivers to adapt to legal standards. This transitional period is intended to raise awareness about the dangers of modifying motorcycle engines and their impact on traffic accidents. Authorities have also been instructed to monitor importers of such motorcycles to ensure they comply with regulations.
