After 11 days of exceptional heat affecting almost all of France, the heatwave ended on Tuesday, announced Météo France, which lifted the latest orange alert bulletin.
In the Mediterranean region, the departments of Pyrénées-Orientales, Aude, Hérault, Gard, Bouches-du-Rhône, Var and Vaucluse have been downgraded to yellow vigilance, the meteorological institute said in its morning newsletter.

The heatwave, initially limited to the south, began on August 8, with high temperatures in Southern France, has reached an exceptional level between Monday and Wednesday of the previous week in the southwest to the center-east, breaking several records.
In France, between August 9 and 12, 2025, 266 weather stations have recorded at least once a temperature of 40°C or higher, as well as exceeding the total for the second half of the 20th century, which stood at 235.
