A private hospital in Casablanca has announced the successful completion of the first-ever kidney transplant in Africa involving incompatible blood types, marking a major medical breakthrough on the continent.
According to Al-Ahdath Al-Maghribia, the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health said the operation involved a donor and recipient with mismatched ABO blood groups. The surgery was hailed as a continental and national first.
Professor Abdelbar Oubaaouz, director of a hospital under the foundation, said the transplant was made possible thanks to the institution’s advanced human, technical, and organizational resources.
