CAF raises security concerns over Kenya’s CHAN matches

The Confederation of African Football has expressed serious concerns over security breaches at Nairobi’s Kasarani Stadium during the African Nations Championship match between Kenya and Morocco.

In a statement Tuesday, CAF condemned repeated violations, citing Sunday’s incidents where gates were broken, fans entered without tickets, capacity exceeded the 48,000-seat limit, and media areas were invaded.

CAF said it has referred the breaches to relevant authorities for investigation and appropriate action, and is in discussions with Kenya’s local organizing committee and government to ensure compliance with its safety and security protocols. The match ended in a 1-0 win for Kenya.

Kenya is co-hosting CHAN with Tanzania and Uganda, with Kasarani set to stage the final on August 30.
