The Indian stealth frigate INS Tamal has completed a three-day port call in Casablanca, the third visit by an Indian warship to Morocco in two years, according to India’s Ministry of Defence.
Commissioned in Russia in early July, the vessel is en route to its home base in India, with planned stops across Europe and Asia as part of New Delhi’s naval diplomacy drive.
During the visit, the INS Tamal took part in bilateral meetings with senior Moroccan naval officials, reciprocal ship tours, sporting contests, and cultural events highlighting Morocco–India ties.
Discussions included exchanges between the crew and Royal Moroccan Navy officers led by Inspector General Vice Admiral Mohamed Tahin. India’s envoy in Rabat also toured the ship and met with Moroccan defence officials.
On departure, the frigate conducted a joint passage exercise (PASSEX) with Moroccan frigate Mohammed VI to enhance operational coordination and mutual understanding, underscoring both navies’ commitment to maritime security and defence cooperation.
