Morocco has launched an anti-dumping investigation into ceramic tile imports from India over suspected dumping practices that could harm local producers and disrupt the domestic market.

In a public notice issued Friday, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said it had received a complaint from the Professional Association of the Ceramic Industry (APIC), representing manufacturers in Casablanca, Berrechid and Tetouan.

According to the ministry, these producers account for 72% of Morocco’s national ceramic tile production and have raised concerns over a surge in low-priced imports from India.

The complaint covers ceramic tiles used for floors, walls and other surfaces, including countertops, for both indoor and outdoor use.

The ministry said the complaint includes sufficient evidence suggesting that ceramic tiles from India may be entering the Moroccan market at dumped prices.

It noted that both the export price and the normal value were properly documented, with a dumping margin considered high and above the 2% threshold required to justify an investigation.

The notice also revealed that imports of ceramic tiles from India increased significantly between 2021 and the first half of 2025, both in absolute terms and in comparison with national production and consumption.

“These imports could threaten the domestic production branch and negatively affect its economic performance,” the ministry said.

The investigation, which took effect on April 24, 2026, will examine dumping practices between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2025.

Authorities will also review market trends from Jan. 1, 2021, to Dec. 31, 2025, to assess whether the imports pose a threat of serious injury to the domestic industry.

Launched under Law No. 15.09 on trade defense measures, the probe aims to collect and verify information from foreign exporters, Moroccan importers, domestic producers and other relevant parties.

The ministry said the investigation will determine whether ceramic tiles from India are being dumped in Morocco and whether those imports are causing, or threatening to cause, serious injury to the local ceramic tile industry.
