The Moroccan Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs announced that the Friday sermon for August 8will center on women’s rights and status in Islam, underscoring the importance of equality, dignity and justice within an Islamic framework.
In a statement published on its official website, the ministry said the unified sermon will explore Islamic Sharia’s perspective on women’s rights, drawing on Quranic verses and Prophetic traditions (hadiths) that affirm women’s social, spiritual and legal standing.
The move is part of the ministry’s ongoing initiative to standardize Friday sermon themes, with the goal of promoting balanced religious discourse and enhancing public understanding of key societal issues.
The ministry noted that imams and preachers across mosques nationwide are expected to engage with the topic, helping to foster values of tolerance, moderation, and constructive dialogue.
The sermon is also seen as a step toward countering extremist narratives and strengthening Morocco’s religious identity rooted in openness and inclusivity, especially regarding the role and rights of women in society.
