A suspect brought before the Ain Sebaa District Court in Casablanca on Monday briefly escaped police custody, only to be recaptured hours later in the Derb Sultan neighborhood, according to information obtained by Hespress.
The suspect, who was transported to the courthouse alongside a group of detainees, reportedly exploited a moment of distraction and crowding as security personnel managed multiple individuals. He managed to flee the courthouse premises undetected.
Security forces only realized the individual was missing after calling the names of the detainees and discovering one was unaccounted for. The discovery sparked a police alert and rapid search operation.
According to initial investigations, the escapee had sought refuge at a relative’s home in the Derb Sultan district of Casablanca. Police moved quickly to the location, where they successfully apprehended the fugitive and returned him to court custody.
Authorities have yet to release further details regarding the nature of the suspect’s charges or whether additional security measures will be implemented following the incident.
