A state of panic gripped residents of the upscale Chatae housing complex in Harhoura, near Temara, after a large snake was spotted inside a home.
The incident, which occurred Wednesday night, alarmed families, particularly children, as the reptile slithered through a property in a neighborhood known for its calm and safety.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as terrifying. One resident said, “We were shocked, no one expected this in such a quiet area.” Another recounted how her children were left in tears and unable to sleep.
The coastal area, a favored summer destination for tourists and returning Moroccan expatriates, has seen a rise in such encounters during hot weather, when reptiles seek cool, shaded spaces.
Residents are now calling on local and environmental authorities to investigate the snake’s presence and implement preventive measures, including pest control and environmental monitoring.
