The Moroccan women’s national football team clinched a valuable 4-2 victory over DR Congo today in an exciting group stage match of the Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Captain Ghizlane Chebbak was the star, scoring a hat-trick to lead her team to triumph.
DR Congo opened the scoring early in the 6th minute through Kanginza. However, Morocco quickly responded with two consecutive goals from Ghizlane Chebbak in the 25th and 43rd minutes, giving them a 2-1 lead. In the second half, DR Congo equalized in the 70th minute with a goal by Maweti. But Morocco intensified its pressure, and Chebbak completed her hat-trick in the 75th minute to regain the lead. Yassmine Laârabat sealed the victory with a fourth goal from a penalty kick in the 83rd minute.
With this crucial win, the Moroccan team now leads its group with four points, ahead of Zambia on goal difference. Zambia had also secured a 3-2 victory over Senegal earlier today, in another match that shaped the group standings.
