Morocco has initiated a program to modernize its C-130H military transport aircraft as part of a strategic upgrade to its air logistics capabilities.
The announcement was made Wednesday in Rabat during a ceremony attended by high-level delegations from Morocco and the United States, according to a statement from the Royal Armed Forces.
The project is being carried out in technical partnership with US-based L3Harris Technologies, and aims to enhance Morocco’s military air transport fleet used for cargo and logistical support.
The modernization includes upgraded navigation communication and flight control systems that would improve the air force’s operational readiness across a range of scenarios from disaster response to military support.
The program is positioned as a key element in the country’s broader defense strategy and reflects Morocco’s focus on improving operational effectiveness in both military and humanitarian missions.
Defense experts who spoke to Hespress AR say the upgrade marks a qualitative leap in Morocco’s air mobility capabilities that would improve on the Air Force’s ability to conduct rapid deployments in paratrooper evacuations and tactical airdrop operations, calling the upgrade a strategic priority.
The initiative, they said, supports a vision of building a multi-role air force able to adapt to regional security challenges and humanitarian demands.
