The body of a 3-year-old boy who went missing on Sunday was discovered Monday morning in a remote pasture area near his home in the Douar Al-Marja village, part of the Ain Kansra commune in Taounate province, local sources reported.
The child’s disappearance triggered a large-scale search operation involving Royal Gendarmerie officers, local authorities, and community members. His lifeless body was eventually found by a shepherd about two kilometers from the family’s home.
Upon notification, authorities secured the scene and, under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office, transferred the body to Al Ghassani Regional Hospital in Fez for a forensic autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Meanwhile, the Royal Gendarmerie has opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the child’s disappearance and death. Preliminary findings and results from the medical examination are expected to shed light on whether foul play was involved or if the death was accidental.
