Morocco has introduced a provisional antidumping duty on PVC imports from Egypt, effective June 6, 2025, according to a circular from the Customs and Indirect Tax Administration.
The decision follows a joint order by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The duty is set at 74.87 percent for Egyptian Petrochemicals Company and 92.19 percent for other Egyptian exporters.
This measure follows preliminary findings from an antidumping investigation launched in November 2024, which concluded that Egyptian PVC was entering the Moroccan market at dumping prices. The imported volumes had surged, putting downward pressure on local PVC prices.
The investigation found that this underpricing significantly harmed domestic producers. The sector experienced a marked deterioration in key economic and financial indicators, including loss of market share, declining profitability, and a sharp drop in return on investment.
The provisional measure aims to safeguard Morocco’s domestic PVC industry during further review.
