At his official swearing-in on Wednesday, newly appointed Attorney General at the Court of Cassation, Hicham Balaoui, pledged to strengthen the performance of the Public Prosecution and uphold the independence of the judiciary.
Balaoui announced plans to modernize the institution through strategic planning, performance-based management, and digital transformation.
He underscored the importance of collaboration with judicial stakeholders, including the Supreme Judicial Council, Ministry of Justice, and legal professions.
Balaoui also called for a citizen-centered prosecution service that communicates with the public and safeguards rights and freedoms, while firmly addressing crime and corruption.
He committed to enhancing training in legal communication and human rights and prioritizing the protection of vulnerable groups.
Balaoui further stressed the prosecution’s role in promoting economic order and investment, and expressed his intent to host the African Prosecutors’ Association in Rabat to strengthen Morocco’s global judicial standing.
