Emirati Ambassador to Morocco Al-Asri Saeed Al Dhaheri emphasized the importance of cultural cooperation as a key pillar in the longstanding relationship between the United Arab Emirates and Morocco. His remarks came in the context of the UAE’s prominent participation in the International Book and Publishing Fair in Rabat.
In an article titled “Building Peace and Development: The UAE Model in Diplomacy and Strategic Partnerships,” shared with Hespress, Al Dhaheri said the Emirati presence at the fair reflects a deepening of shared values and mutual understanding between the two nations, bolstering the strategic partnership between their leaders.
Al Dhaheri pointed to the first session of the UAE-Morocco Joint Economic Committee and the activation of the bilateral Business Council as strong indicators of the two nations’ commitment to opening new avenues of economic, investment, and trade cooperation.
The ambassador noted that the UAE’s approach to diplomacy is built on dialogue, moderation, and mutual respect—principles that have guided its foreign policy since the country’s founding in 1971. He stressed that the UAE rejects violence and extremism and prioritizes humanitarian efforts, including significant support for peace initiatives and disaster relief around the globe.
Highlighting the UAE’s role in Sudan, Al Dhaheri said the country has contributed more than $3.5 billion in humanitarian aid over the past decade, with an additional $600 million pledged as conflict in the country escalates. The UAE, he said, supports diplomatic mediation and urgent ceasefires while also providing medical aid, temporary shelter, and educational programs for displaced populations.
The ambassador also highlighted the UAE’s humanitarian diplomacy, citing initiatives like the Document on Human Fraternity and the Abrahamic Family House, which aim to promote tolerance, coexistence, and dialogue between cultures and religions.
Al Dhaheri underscored the strong momentum in UAE-Morocco economic relations, particularly following King Mohammed VI’s historic state visit to the UAE in December 2023. That visit saw the signing of a landmark declaration titled “Towards an Innovative, Renewed, and Firm Partnership.”
Efforts are now underway to finalize a comprehensive economic partnership agreement, which officials believe will elevate bilateral relations to unprecedented levels of strategic cooperation.
The ambassador concluded by praising the two countries’ shared commitment to Arab unity, sustainable development, and peaceful conflict resolution. He said that the UAE, under the leadership of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, remains committed to building bridges of cooperation and shaping a better future for the region and the world.
