As the 20th edition of the Mawazine festival approaches, organizers are facing growing criticism for their silence regarding the lineup of Moroccan artists.
While international and Arab stars have already been announced, the absence of local names has sparked frustration in artistic and media circles.
A source close to the festival told Hespress that negotiations with Moroccan performers are still ongoing, unlike foreign and Arab artists who were booked months in advance. The delay, the source explained, is due to unresolved financial and logistical details.
Several Moroccan artists are reportedly pushing for fairer contractual terms that reflect their artistic value and growing reputation both at home and abroad.
According to the same source, some are also demanding to perform on the Nahda stage, typically reserved for major Arab acts, instead of the Salé stage, which traditionally hosts Moroccan talent.
These artists argue that their evolving status and past appearances on Nahda justify their request.
Festival organizers, meanwhile, have confirmed that discussions are still in progress and that the official Moroccan lineup will be announced in the coming days.
