Nine people were killed Saturday when a man drove a vehicle into a crowd during a Filipino cultural festival in Vancouver, Canadian police said.
In a statement posted Sunday on X, formerly known as Twitter, police said they have ruled out terrorism as a motive.
“At this time, we can confirm that nine people were killed after a man drove his vehicle into a crowd last night at the Lapu-Lapu Festival,” police said. “We extend our sincere condolences to all those affected by this tragic incident.”
Authorities did not immediately release further details about the driver or any potential charges. The investigation is ongoing.
