The Kenitra-Marrakech High-Speed Rail Line, whose construction works were launched on Thursday by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, will help establish spatial justice, said the Deputy Director General of the National Railway Office (ONCF), Mohamed Smouni.
In a statement to the press, Smouni emphasized that this project follows the success of the first High-Speed Line connecting Tangier to Casablanca, which entered service in November 2018, adding that the new project will connect several territorial areas, cities, airports and major stadiums.
This large-scale project will enable the Kingdom to expand its high-speed train network to exceed 600 kilometers, placing it among the countries equipped with this technology, he explained.
The implementation of this new high-speed rail line will also reduce travel times, provide additional services with new pricing options for citizens, and contribute to environmental preservation, he said, highlighting that thanks to the enlightened Vision of His Majesty the King, Morocco has acquired sufficient expertise to carry out this project within optimal timeframes.
This project positions Morocco, with its extensive experience in the field, as a leader and even a reference point, he stated, noting that emerging countries are adopting this technology to ensure the democratization of transport for all citizens.
He added that all necessary land planning measures have been taken to complete the project, enabling Morocco to meet future deadlines, notably the 2030 World Cup.
