Morocco’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 1.6% in March 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).
This increase was driven by a 2.2% rise in food prices and a 1.1% rise in non-food items. Within the non-food category, transport costs dropped by 2.4%, while prices in restaurants and hotels increased by 3.9%.
Compared to February 2025, the CPI dropped by 0.3% in March. This was mainly due to a 0.7% decline in food prices, while non-food prices remained stable. The most significant food price drops were recorded in meat (-4.7%), dairy and eggs (-2.0%), oils (-1.4%), and seafood (-0.3%). In contrast, vegetable and fruit prices rose by 4.9% and 1.7%, respectively.
Regionally, the largest monthly CPI decreases were in Guelmim (-1.8%) and Laayoune (-1.5%), while increases were seen in Kenitra and Al Hoceima (+0.9%). Core inflation dropped by 0.6% monthly but rose 1.5% year-on-year.
