The Court of first instances in Temara issued its verdict Thursday evening in the widely publicized “Temara Caid slapping case,” convicting four individuals.
The court sentenced the main defendant, identified as Chaimaa, to two years of effective imprisonment.
Her husband received a one-year effective prison sentence. The third and fourth defendants were each sentenced to six months in prison.
In addition to the prison term, Chaimaa’s husband was ordered to pay a fine of 7,000 Moroccan Dirhams to a member of the Auxiliary Forces involved in the case.
The court has given the four individuals 10 days to appeal the sentences.
The case has drawn significant public attention over the past two weeks. Families of the four defendants attended the court session on Thursday to hear the verdict. The session, which began at 2 PM, involved lengthy arguments presented by the defense lawyers for both sides.
Previously, the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Prefecture of Skhirat-Temara, had withdrawn its specific complaint in the case, requesting only a symbolic one Dirham.
