In preparation for the upcoming Polisario Front congress, the separatist leader, Ibrahim Ghali, has made significant changes within the organization’s structure, aiming to consolidate his leadership and address internal dissatisfaction with his management of the conflict with Morocco.
These changes include the dismissal of key figures, such as the so-called “Minister of Foreign Affairs” Mohamed Sidati, replacing him withMohamed Yesslem.
Ghali removed Ambassador to Algeria, Abdelkader Taleb Omar, shifting him to the Ministry of Education in a bid to strengthen his faction within the organization.
According to Mustafa Salma Ould Sidi Mouloud, a former military leader in the Polisario, these moves signal an attempt by Ghali to eliminate potential rivals ahead of the congress.
