Morocco witnessed a partial solar eclipse today, alongside several other nations in Europe and North America.
Data on the event revealed a close range in the percentage of solar obscuration across different regions of the country.
The lowest coverage was recorded in Laayoune at 14%, followed by Guelmim at 15%, then Agadir at approximately 15.8%. Casablanca and Tangier recorded 17.3% and 17.6%, respectively.
According to information obtained by Hespress, the first observation of the partial eclipse in Morocco occurred at 9:11 AM local time (GMT).
However, there were noticeable differences in the timing across cities due to their geographical locations, with western regions of Morocco enjoying better visibility.
The eclipse was observed in Laayoune between 9:11 AM and 10:41 AM, in Guelmim between 9:25 AM and 11:00 AM, and in Agadir from 9:27 AM to 11:03 AM.
Tangier recorded the longest duration, with the eclipse starting at 9:29 AM and ending at 11:20 AM.
Overall, the phenomenon lasted no more than 120 minutes in Morocco, with the maximum solar obscuration not exceeding 17%. In contrast, some European countries experienced up to 30% coverage, while even higher levels were anticipated in North America.
