The latest report from the Spanish Ministry of the Interior reveals that 269 migrants successfully entered the city of Ceuta from the beginning of the year until Saturday, March 15. Of these, 266 arrived through land routes, including some who swam across rocky barriers, with 109 of these land arrivals occurring in the last 15 days. Only three migrants were reported to have reached Ceuta by sea.
The report highlights a significant decrease in maritime migration to Ceuta this year, with just three arrivals by boat compared to zero during the same period in 2024. Additionally, there was a 63.6% drop in land-based migration to the city, with 266 migrants entering through land borders this year compared to 731 in the same period in 2024, a reduction of 388 individuals.
This decline was not limited to Ceuta, as similar trends were observed in Melilla, where only 17 migrants crossed the border by land and one arrived by sea—figures matching those from the same period in 2024.
On a national level, Spain saw a 23.3% drop in irregular migrant arrivals, with 9,142 individuals reaching the country between January 1 and March 15, 2025, compared to the same period in 2024.
