Authorities in Casablanca have launched an investigation into the recent death of a woman and the severe injuries sustained by two others at a well-known private clinic, following allegations of medical negligence.
According to well-informed Hespress AR sources, the public prosecutor’s office has instructed the judiciary police to probe the case after receiving formal complaints from the victims’ families. The investigation aims to determine the circumstances surrounding the incidents and assess the level of medical responsibility.
As part of the inquiry, the judiciary police have already interviewed the deceased woman’s relatives. Next, medical staff and administrators from the clinic are expected to be summoned to clarify the events leading up to the fatality and injuries.
The family of the deceased, identified as 52-year-old nurse Soumia L., has formally requested a judicial investigation to ascertain the cause of death and evaluate whether the medical team fulfilled its professional duties. The complaint submitted to the prosecutor alleges that the clinic’s management and staff failed to provide proper care, leading to the fatal outcome.
Soumia L. had been admitted to the clinic for a routine hemorrhoid treatment but suffered a stroke before undergoing surgery. She reportedly informed doctors that she was on continuous medication for lupus and could not discontinue treatment. However, medical staff allegedly disregarded her condition and instructed her to stop taking the medication ahead of the procedure.
According to the family’s account, the operation was delayed for three days, during which her health deteriorated. She reportedly experienced hallucinations, lost her vision and hearing, and ultimately suffered a fatal stroke.
The case has drawn increased scrutiny as two other women also sustained permanent disabilities after receiving treatment at the same clinic.
One woman, who had been admitted for childbirth, fell into a coma for several days and emerged with lasting impairments, including the inability to walk or hear. Another patient reportedly suffered a stroke and subsequently developed Alzheimer’s disease.
Relatives of the two injured women are now preparing to file their own legal complaints, alleging medical malpractice and negligence. The public prosecutor’s office is expected to expand the investigation as more testimonies emerge.
