Cabo Verde’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Regional Integration, José Filomeno de Carvalho Dias Monteiro, reaffirmed, on Tuesday in Rabat, his country’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Morocco and promoting a strategic partnership based on mutual respect and active solidarity.

In a joint statement issued at the conclusion of the bilateral meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita and his Cabo Verdean counterpart, the two ministers expressed satisfaction with the excellent friendship and cooperation ties between the two countries.

Both parties also praised the mutual esteem and respect characterizing the ties between the two Heads of State, King Mohammed VI and the President of the Republic of Cabo Verde, José Maria Pereira Neves.

In this regard, the two ministers agreed to organize an economic promotion week in both countries during the second half of 2025. This commitment is part of the two countries’ joint efforts to foster visits between economic operators, and work together to improve the business and investment climate, in order to create a conducive environment to promote Public-Private Partnerships.

The two ministers also reviewed the ongoing momentum of cooperation between the two countries, describing it as fruitful in various fields. They also emphasized the need to further develop this cooperation according to the directives of the highest authorities of both countries in sectors that drive wealth and employment.

These include the tourism sector, vocational training, financial services, maritime fishing, as well as the management and operation of ports, which are the main axes of Cabo Verde’s Strategic Sustainable Development Plan 2022-2026.

Furthermore, the two ministers highlighted the importance placed by the Heads of State of the two brotherly countries on the development of bilateral economic relations, within the framework of a win-win partnership.

In this regard, Bourita reiterated Morocco’s commitment to continuing its contribution to the ongoing socio-economic development efforts in the Republic of Cabo Verde.
