Morocco has maintained its position at 50th place globally in the 2025 Soft Power Index, scoring 40.6 points out of 100, according to the report released by “Brand Finance” on Thursday.

The country topped the Maghreb region, ahead of Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, and Mauritania.

Among Arab nations, the United Arab Emirates led the list in 10th place globally, with 60.4 points. Saudi Arabia ranked 20th, followed by Qatar in 22nd and Egypt in 38th.

The United States claimed the top spot globally, scoring 79.5 points, while China reached second place with 72.8 points, surpassing the United Kingdom. The rise of China was attributed to its strategic efforts, such as the Belt and Road Initiative, which helped improve its global image.

Despite the overall decline in the rankings of many Middle Eastern nations, Abu Dhabi remains a standout example of effective soft power, thanks to its business outlook and international influence.

The report also noted a significant decline in countries engaged in military conflicts, including Israel, which dropped to 33rd place, and Ukraine, which fell to 46th.

El Salvador emerged as the biggest climber in the rankings, advancing 35 spots due to successful security measures aimed at curbing gang violence under the leadership of President Nayib Bukele.
