Morocco’s Minister for Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, spoke publicly about the emotional and professional challenges following the controversy sparked by a photo published by The Australian newspaper.
“I went through a very difficult period, which had a heavy impact on my private life,” she said during a recent event hosted by the Lafqih Tetouani Foundation.
Benali also addressed gender inequality in the workplace, stating, “Gender equality remains a challenge in our society, and Moroccan women still struggle to obtain the respect and recognition they deserve.”
Despite the ordeal, she expressed appreciation for the support from the mining sector and Moroccans abroad, saying, “Moroccans around the world have supported me a lot during this critical period.”
