Moroccan teachers’ unions threaten protest amid dialogue deadlock
Wednesday 12 February 2025 - 20:51

Moroccan teachers’ unions have called for intensified mobilization and potential protests in response to the suspension of sectoral dialogue.

They criticized the ongoing delays in implementing agreements from December 2023 and warned the government against further procrastination.

This follows the postponement of a scheduled meeting between the unions and the Ministry of Education.

A coordination meeting is set for Friday among four major unions (FNE, CDT, UGTM, FDT) to decide on a unified response.

Some unions have indicated that “field action” could be imminent if the situation persists.

The National Union of Education (FNE) has urged the Ministry to expedite the implementation of agreements, while the National Education Union (CDT) decried the closure of dialogue and the lack of responses to key demands, including compensation for rural work and reduced working hours.
