Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Lafti announced the introduction of an information system for Moroccan bus stations, along with a unified application for bus transport professionals and an online ticket reservation platform for passengers.
In a written response to the Popular Movement party in the House of Representatives, Laftit revealed that the General Directorate of Local Authorities is working as part of its strategic program to improve the management of new-generation bus stations.
The initiative, involving local development companies, aims to support municipalities with legal, technical, and financial assistance to establish and professionally manage these facilities.
The new system will digitalize daily operations at bus stations, including ticket sales, reservations, freight management, customer deposits, and announcements related to travel schedules, transport companies, and administrative, financial, and accounting management of stations.
The system will also provide statistical data on trips, revenue, and expenses, allowing for efficient management and centralized monitoring by all road transport stakeholders.
Laftit emphasized the importance of separating bus and passenger entry/exit points, utilizing advanced technologies such as digital booking stations and automatic bus entry monitoring, similar to practices at the Rabat bus station.
To implement this system at all bus stations, the ministry is providing financial support to municipalities for additional infrastructure and equipment needed for the information system, along with logistics and monitoring tools. The ministry is also offering technical support and training for staff managing these facilities to ensure their professional and modern management.
