Recent rainfall and snowfall across several regions of Morocco have had a positive impact on the country’s major water reservoirs.
As of February 3, 2025, the country’s dam reserves have reached 4.667 billion cubic meters of water, nearly one billion more than the same period last year.
The overall filling rate of dams now stands at 27.7%, reflecting significant progress, according to the Ministry of Equipment and Water. Additionally, over 20,308 km² of land are currently covered by snow, further enhancing the positive effects of these precipitation events on water resources.
Notable increases in water levels have been recorded at several dams, including:
Loukkos Basin: Oued El Makhazine (+0.6 million m³, 69% full), Dar Khrofa (+0.5 million m³, 14% full); Sebou Basin: Al Wahda (+0.7 million m³, 40% full), Idriss Ier; (+0.8 million m³, 24.5% full) Moulouya Basin: Mohammed V (+0.6 million m³, 45.5% full) and Oum Er Rabia Basin: Ahmed El Hansali (+1.2 million m³, 5.5% full)
